We’re not only hitting high summer, but our social lives are also starting to return to what they once were. But having a Hot Girl Summer is more of a mentality than anything, one that’s centered around self-love, empowerment, and, of course, some fire ‘fits.
In just a matter of months, thong bikinis went from being low-key polarizing to becoming a key swimwear look, and I’m so here for it. If you ask me, the risqué swimwear trend is the ultimate embodiment of Hot Girl Summer because wearing it makes a bold statement and pretty much guarantees you’re channeling your most confident and badass self when doing so. And really, there’s nothing better than that, regardless of what you’re actually wearing.… Read the rest

Wearing the wrong bra size is like wearing the wrong shoe size: It’s uncomfortable, noticeable, and kind of ruins the whole outfit. But like many people, I’ve been there and vividly remember my first true bra mishap. Let me set the scene: It’s eighth-grade graduation, and my parents bought me a special strapless polka-dot dress with a pink belt. I got my hair and makeup done, stepped into my dress, and felt like a million bucks. A few hours later at the ceremony, my strapless bra started to shimmy its way down to my waist with my breasts fully out of the cups. Fourteen-year-old me was in full-on panic mode. All I wanted was for graduation to be over so I could just go home. Looking back, the only thing I really remember from that day is how self-conscious and uncomfortable I felt.
Years from now, when I look back on 2020, I’ll forever be reminded of the fashion trends that unexpectedly took off, from face masks and tie-dye to matching sets and clogs—things I admittedly never thought would be remotely on my radar. The joke’s on me, I guess, right? My ever-so-stylish co-worker Natalia Sztyk just went with the flow this past year when circumstances started dictating her fashion choices. “When our company started working from home, I knew I needed house shoes for my standing desk.” Fourteen months and four pairs of Crocs later, they’re officially Natalia’s go-to footwear and she’s definitely not afraid to tell you as much.
Like so many other fashion people, Natalia has been waxing poetic to me about the brand ever since, which is exactly why I felt it necessary to tell her that Crocs is a sleeper hit in the sandal department, too. “Okay, but … Read the rest
I don’t know about you, but lately, all I want to do is buy summer clothes and beauty products. It’s close to 100º today where I live, and that’s all the encouragement I need to shop for (very) warm weather. But at the same time, I’m also starting to think about my fall wardrobe.
If you sign up for The List, Who What Wear’s free membership program, you’ll get exclusive discount codes and other perks. Even though I’m a fashion editor, even I’m not immune to feeling like I have nothing to wear. I definitely still have many moments in which I throw my arms up in the air and say to myself “I wish someone would just dress me.” As social lives pick up again and my own calendar starts to look how it used to, I’m once again faced with this sartorial dilemma but this time I am giving up the reins and turning to an expert for styling advice.
I got the chance to experience out Karla Welch’s top-notch styling skills. The veteran Hollywood stylist whos client list resembles a red carpet lineup recently launched a new endeavor with her styling app Wishi. With Wishi, Welch hopes to democratize personal styling and bring what she does for her celeb clients to everyone. “I wanted to bring my expertise to everyone in a … Read the rest
Hey, don’t roll your eyes just yet—underwear goes through trend cycles just like the rest of the ready-to-wear world, and we have a lingerie expert here to prove it. I don’t know about you, but lingerie fascinates me, as it’s an article of clothing basically everyone wears but never really talks about. It’s not necessarily taboo, but since it’s rarely seen, it goes undiscussed. If you’re someone who takes great pride and joy in your negligee drawer, this is quite disappointing.
Clearly, we’re about to talk in great detail about summer lingerie trends—summer underwear trends to be specific. We reached out to an expert on the matter to give us the 411 on which underwear styles are on the rise, and more importantly, which are quickly dying. Read on as Sandra Rose, VP of merchandising and brand at Journelle (one of the best lingerie destinations, if you ask me), spills … Read the rest
In some parts of the country, spring is certainly taking a bit longer to arrive than you might have hoped. But look at the bright side: That will make warm weather’s arrival all the sweeter. Kacey Musgraves, for one, isn’t waiting another day to bust out her cutest bikini. In photos shared on her Twitter, Musgraves wore the Frankies Bikinis Claire Triangle Terry Bikini Top in Positano Stripe ($85) and Barb Terry Bikini Bottoms in Positano Stripe ($90), and now I’m convinced I need the pieces as well.
As a cherry on top, Musgraves also wore a pair of matching Johnson Striped Terry Pants ($140) that look as comfortable as my baggy sweats but a whole lot chicer. As it happens, her bikini and pants are part of a collection that also includes a polo shirt, shorts, cardigan, mini skirt, and more. A Musgraves-approved item for every day of the … Read the rest

Before I started writing about beauty almost a year ago, when it came to shopping for beauty products, my main spots were Sephora and the local drugstore. I didn’t really give much thought to other retailers because I pretty much had all my needs met with those two—I could shop my tried-and-true makeup and skincare brands. Because I didn’t really experiment with a bunch of new products, I always knew what I was going to get and that each store would be stocked with what I wanted.
Fast-forward to a year later and I’m much more knowledgeable about skin conditions, makeup looks and techniques, and, of course, products. I’ve been influenced so many times by my co-workers telling me about their favorite serum or moisturizer or their holy-grail mascara or must-have lipstick. I’ve also come across a slew of new beauty retailers to shop. One of my absolute favorite discoveries … Read the rest
